Highland Games, Book 1
The annual Highland Games festival, the highlight of the Highland, Georgia tourist and social calendar, is only three weeks away, and just like every year, Isabel Buchanan will be hosting the festival with her mother on the family estate, Stonehaven. But this year, her mother keeps getting distracted from the planning -- ever since she came back from a two-week trip to Scotland with a six-foot tall, very handsome souvenir, she doesn't have time for much more than being smitten.
Alasdair Blackmoor has been tasked with rounding up his wayward uncle Gareth and returning him to his duties as 9th earl of Cairndow and their family estate in Scotland. Once in Highland, Georgia, he locates his uncle, who confides to him that he wants to shed his aristocratic responsibilities and enjoy a simple life with his new American love. Alasdair worries his uncle is in for heartbreak and decides to stay in Highland to make sure his beloved uncle is not being taken advantage of for his title and estate.
Alasdair feels like he’s stepped into another world in Highland. The slow pace and friendly inhabitants highlight the hectic coldness of his life in London. But it’s the fiery, funny Isabel who fascinates him. Used to the calculations and manipulations of women who are more interested in his heritage and money, Alasdair plays along with his uncle’s charade of pretending to be a commoner, knowing for the first time that Isabel—and the other townspeople—like him for who he is and not what he has.
Between teaching Isabel how to dance and drink like a real Highlander (and exactly what a Scotsman wears under his kilt), Alasdair not only falls in love with Isabel, but rediscovers a lost connection with his uncle and his Scottish heritage. As the festival approaches, he carves himself a place in Highland, but it’s the woman at the center of it that feels like home. But when Alasdair and his uncle's lies about their true identities are revealed, they'll have to use all of their Scottish charm to win back the hearts of the Southern women who have changed their lives.
Note: I'm super excited to introduce you to my next series! While it's still set in a quirky, Southern small town, it will veer more toward romantic comedy. So, get ready to laugh and be prepared to have your pants charmed off! (Not literally, I hope:)
